Quarterfinal #3: Evasick's complete game boosts Studs to semifinal

Arlo Evasick pitched a complete-game three-hitter as the Seattle (WA) Studs defeated the Ozark (MO) Generals 6-1 in the final quarterfinal game in the 74th National Baseball Congress World Series.

 

Evasick won his second game, walking none and striking out five as the Studs (5-1) reached Thursday's 7 p.m. semifinal game against Beatrice (NE).

 

Nate Baker had a two-run single in the second inning and Brandon Kuykendall hit a two-run homer in the third for Seattle. Kuykendall and Cade Thompson each had two hits and scored two runs,

 

Jordan Rutenbar had two of the three hits for Ozark (3-2), hitting a home run to break up the no-hit bid and shutout in the fifth and singling in the eighth. Tyler Bishop gave up all six runs in taking the loss for the Generals, who finish in a fourth-place tie.

 

The winner of Thursday's semifinal will face unbeaten Santa Barbara in the championship game on Friday.
