The Hutchinson Monarchs defeat the Davy Jones Cardinals after late game RBI blast, 6-3

The Hutchinson Monarchs (1-0) and the Davy Jones Cardinals (0-1) traded the lead four times on Saturday, but the Hutchinson Monarchs ended up on top with a 6-3 win over the Davy Jones Cardinals.

Scott Splett racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Hutchinson Monarchs. He singled in the third inning and homered in the ninth innings.

Luke Stratman paced the Davy Jones Cardinals at the plate. Stratman went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, fifth, and seventh innings.

Junior Mustain got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Mustain struck out none, walked two and gave up no hits.

Caden Koch couldn't get it done on the bump for the Davy Jones Cardinals, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
