Hays made quick work of San Diego in their first game of the tournament, as they won it 10-0 in six innings. The big inning for Hays was the third, in which Hays scored 5 runs. Hays was led offensively by Billy Boockford as he was 2 for 2 with 1 RBI and scoring 1 run. Three other Larks went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI (Kevin Hennessey, Eric Roof, and Dusty Washburn). One of Washburn’s hits was a home run. Patrick Cooper went all six innings for Hays and struck out six and giving up on one base hit.
Hays advances to play the Southern California Fire on Friday.
San Diego will play next on Friday against the winner of the Maxim-Rock City game.
