Derby Bats Come Alive Against Play Ball Sports

WICHITA, KS- The Derby (KS) Twins, of the Jayhawk League, shutout Play Ball Sports (CO), 18U Hap Dumont Champions, 11-0 in six innings at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Friday night. This matchup was the first game of the BaseballSavings.com 76th Annual National Baseball Congress World Series.

Twins pitcher John Anderson threw a complete game with eight strikeouts giving up just two hits. Derby scored six in the third to go up 7-0, and a two run homerun by Cole Waddell in the sixth completed the run rule.  Waddell was two for four with four RBI to lead to Twins, while Dillon Hazlett finished the game two for four with three RBI.

With the loss Play Ball Sports moves to the loser’s bracket and will play Sunday, August 1st against the loser of Team Tulsa (OK) Red Rockets and Sedalia (MO) Bombers. Derby advances in the winner’s bracket and will play the winner of Team Tulsa (OK) Red Rockets and Sedalia (MO) Bombers on Monday, August 2nd.
