Morning rain and thunder didn’t stop the NBC World Series. The Clarinda (IA) A’s scored first with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Katy (TX) Collegians matched that with a run in the top of the second. Steven Sultz Baugu broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run triple to give Clarinda a 3-1 lead. The Collegians took their only lead in the sixth, with a double by Beau Warren scoring one run, and pinch-hit singles by Seth Lynn and Charles Oddo giving Katy the lead 4-3. But Clarinda responded with its own three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead for good with Mick Gaston tying the game with a triple and scoring the go-ahead run on Alvaro Bastos's single. Bastos scored the final run on Ryan Peterson's ground out. The A's prevailed 6-4 to stay alive in the NBCWS at 1-1, while Katy (TX) was eliminated at 1-2.
