The 2009 NBC Midwest Regional champion El Dorado Broncos won in high scoring fashion over the Katy (TX) Collegians 9-6. The Broncos fell behind by two runs after the first inning but answered back with two of their own in the second and third. The Collegians retook the lead with a strong fifth inning in which they snatched three runs. Not to be outdone, the Broncos took it in stride and fired back with one run scored in the sixth and seventh; two in the eighth and a final parting shot with one run scored in the ninth. The Collegians could only score one run in the eighth after their explosive fifth inning and fell three runs short in the end. It was poise that helped the Broncos recover after walking a batter with the bases loaded in the fifth and giving up the lead. The Broncos experience in the NBC Midwest Regional surely helped out - having been battletested and undefeated in that tournament.
