The Kansas Cannons (4-1) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-2 to the Haysville Heat (4-1) on Wednesday in the winner take all Championship game of the 2012 NBC Midwest Regional. Both teams earn a bid into next weeks 78th Annual NBC World Series as well as have a $2,600 check in hand. The winner take all format was agreed upon by both managers and GM's prior to the game.
The Haysville Heat took the lead in the sixth inning on an error.
Jimmy Brenneman led the Haysville Heat's offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He singled in the sixth inning.
Charlie McCready put together a nice outing. McCready held the Kansas Cannons hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
A bright spot for the Kansas Cannons in the defeat was Ryan Scoles, who allowed only three runs while striking out five.
Scoles ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the tournament.
This is the 3rd straight NBC Midwest Regional Title for the Heat in as many years.
