Michael Dean Joins Elite Company in HOF

Although his role is behind the scenes is not out on the field under the lights, Mike Dean has been as much a part of the NBC lore as some of the great baseball players who performed in Wichita. Every August Mike Dean has traveled to Wichita, at his own expense, to spend countless hours as the Official Scorer and Statistician of the NBC World Series. Mike and his crew of scorers are here and at the second site for every game of the NBC World Series. Most of the statistics found in this year's program are because of Mike Dean's dedication and love for watching the games and taking the time to compile those statistics.

On another note, Mike and his harmonica are a very important part of the story that is the NBC World Series. During the past 25 NBC World Series, he has performed the National Anthem prior to the feature games and is best known for playing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch. NBC audiences love his performances, but more importantly Mike loves playing the harmonica for you, the fans.

In 2005, Mike Dean was presented with the prestigious Hap Dumond Award, recognizing him for his dedication and love of the National Baseball Congress World Series. Also, in 2008, he was selected as the first recipient of the Sports Information Director of the Year by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

It is our distinct pleasure here at the National Baseball Congress to present Mr. Mike Dean as the newest inductee of the National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame.
