The 2009 NBC Midwest Regional will be held at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium with the Champion receiving a berth in the 75th Annual NBC World Series. The regional will begin on Friday, July 17th and run through July 23rd. The NBC will accept the first twelve teams to pay their entry fee and will consist of a double-elimination bracket.
In 2008, the Park City Rangers won the Championship in a rain-shortened championship game. Both the Rangers and the Junction City Generals, who was the Runner-up, received berths in the World Series. Those two teams went on to have a great showing in the NBC World Series with Junction City finishing in a tie for Fifth Place. Traditionally, the Midwest Regional has provided one of the best regionals throughout the country. Teams from the Jayhawk, Walter Johnson, and River City Victory Leagues have provided the competition. There have been independent teams that have participated in the regional in the past.
The format for the Midwest Regional is a twelve-team, double elimination tournament. Games are 9 inning games with a Run Rule of 10 after five innings. The tournament is a wood bat tournament and all games are played according to NBC Rules. Entry fee for the Midwest Regional is $600 and both the Champion and Runner-up receive $2,600 in compensation. The winner also receives a Championship Trophy.
